Bon Jovi: Jon Bon Jovi: Hard Rocker struggle with his children

Ok, this was translated with Google Translate, since my German is bad (although my English might be worse and I was born in the United States, although being born in New Jersey may lead me to be linguistically challenged).

"MY KIDS DRAG ME EVEN AT 'ROCK BAND' FROM '

Jon Bon Jovi at his performance in Cologne

Thursday afternoon, 15.05 clock, Jon Bon Jovi (48) comes into the Hyatt. As a superstar comes Sun Slightly mirrored sunglasses, easy-to-late, hair combed slightly only thirst for calm water. The make-up wife, he nodded in a friendly way, says: "Thank you, we need not today." He looks great - with almost 50, even if it's kids now have defeated even musically. ... More about that later

Next year one of the most successful bands on the planet comes back to Germany. Since last week's "Greatest Hits" album is on the market. All hits. More than 100 million albums sold. Jon drops down on a sofa, told Bild he says, "Well, to be back in Cologne. Feels like we have spent over 400 days in the city. "

Band 25 years, several tours. Most of Cologne was there. In the coming years not. Because it works, including Munich, Dusseldorf, Dresden and Mannheim. In Cologne, was a special gig. Housed in a former cinema. Only a few hundred guests.

Jon: "It does not matter whether we play in front of 800 000 or eight people. Somehow we have to ensure that none is sitting on its hands. "On what he thinks when he was in Germany when he is in Cologne?" One thing I remember well. We have even celebrated the second birthday of my daughter . So the city is part of the family. "

Speaking of family: There betrays the man from New Jersey, why does it sometimes spat at home.

.. "In 'Rock Band' on the games console I am now the oldie" is at the game's points for karaoke singing "Recently I lost my own song I wanted to 'Living above prayer' sing, but määäääp Kaputt.! - the system me being sacked. I was too bad. Hi, this is our song, when I go again trying to have the computer tell me again done. My kids found it funny, but Daddy was pissed. When the next tour there's the whole but again live, I promise. "

There was a first taste of it at the mini-gig in Cologne. There, Jon Bon Jovi rocked with tape for an hour on stage - and rewarded the cheering fans with "Bad Medicine" as the extra fat addition.

Here's some pictures from that article.

Bon Jovi: My Fantasy Band: Richie Sambora, Bon Jovi

Nice Band there Richie.   I have to agree on pretty much every choice.

Guitar - Jimi Hendrix

Jimi was such an innovator. I think that even when the greats, the Jimmy Pages and Eric Claptons of this world, saw Jimi for the first time they would have thought "Oh my god!" He influenced all of us: his style, his free spirit, the way he experimented with sonic stuff, and he also happened to be a great songwriter.

Guitar - Jimmy Page

The other guitar player would have to be Jimmy Page, who is a big hero of mine not only as a guitar player but also as a songwriter, record producer and a genius bandleader. I'm lucky enough to be friends with him. To see those two guys play together would be pretty monstrous; that would be cool.

Bass - Paul McCartney

You gotta stick a Beatle in there, for sure. Paul is not only a great bass player, but a great songwriter and a great singer. His legacy is deep and, again, he's another huge hero of mine.

Drums - John Bonham

Let's put Bonzo up there; he's such an original. There's a bunch of great drummers out there, but he would be pretty cool. As a drummer he almost played melodies – the way he tuned his drums and the way he made the fills, you can sing them. The fills themselves were very memorable, much like Ringo. The fills that Ringo did on those Beatles records were part of the music.

Keys - Elton John

Let's put Elton up there on keyboards because he's just an amazing singer, an amazing songwriter and an amazing keyboard player.

Vocals - Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra

Who would be the greatest lead singer of all time? We already have all those great singers in the band who can sing any rock'n'roll song. So we need somebody a bit different upfront. Elvis could probably do a good job as a lead singer; when he was in his prime he was probably the most dynamic rock'n'roll star of his time. I'd also like Frank Sinatra because of the way he interpreted a song. That would be an interesting combo.

Bon Jovi's 'Greatest Hits' album is out now. Bon Jovi play Edinburgh, Manchester and London in June 2011 (www.bonjovi.com)

Bon Jovi: The Ultimate Greatest Hits DVD

I bought my copy, gotta make a few partial payments on Jon's mortgage.

Here's some details.

The DVD is on sale for on Amazon.co.uk as I posted a few days ago.  With standard shipping it comes out to $17.89 US with the current exchange rates.  Your credit or debit card should have an additional 2-3% (or more) foreign currency transaction fee for your bank to do the currency exchange, while banks are known as "lending institutions" their primary goal is to make money, not to lose it.  If you attempt to have the fee waived the nice customer service person will tell you how this is in your cardholder agreement, blah blah blah (No I didn't do this, I worked for a bank and the lady was pissed when her $10000 French, Carriage style crib she bought for her baby was 2% higher than she expected after the currency change, and she DEMANDED I return that fee, that's the one fee that we could not waive since you elected to make the purchase with your credit card, if you're spending 10K on a crib, 2% shouldn't really matter, but I guess it does.)

The DVD is all regions (Like the MSG DVD) and NTSC which means it will play in newer US players.

So enjoy some more Jovi shopping, and remember, the holidays are right around the corner.

Bon Jovi: Greatest Hits DVD

Awesome.  Once again not available in the US or Canada (Randomly Bon Jovi Brasil, Mexico and the rest of Central and South America are not part of the US or Canada)

BON JOVI GREATEST HITS DVD features the band's biggest worldwide smash hits in a career-spanning set of original promo videos, alongside the greatest ever live performances of each and every one of these legendary tracks.

The phenomenal live footage includes the band's groundbreaking rooftop show on top of London's O2 Arena (never before been released on home video) as well as an exclusive performance of storming new single WHAT DO YOU GOT?, not available anywhere else.

17 ORIGINAL VIDEOS + 17 LIVE PERFORMANCES
THE ULTIMATE VIDEO COLLECTION

This DVD includes Livin' On A Prayer, It's My Life, You Give Love A Bad Name, Bad Medicine, Who Says You Can't Go Home, Have A NIce Day, Always, Lay Your Hands On Me, We Weren't Born To Follow, Keep The Faith, Blaze of Glory and MORE!

This DVD collection is available around the world, minus US and Canada. Look for it when you purchase your Greatest Hits album in November!

The Greatest Hits DVD can be purchased from Amazon.co.uk and it is all regions which means it will play in newer DVD players in any country.  Which is also what they did with the MSG DVD and I had it last December.  Stupid Universal Music.  Trying to hold the American (& Canadian) Bon Jovi fan down, don't you know we have credit cards and access to the internet???

Here are some pictures from Amazon.co.uk of the back of the DVD which videos and which performances.  Makes me wonder if next year we can expect a DVD package of the 70+ songs performed at the O2 this past June.  Hmmm Bon Jovi????  Hmmm?????  What Do You Got is live from Peru.

Of course after reading the track listing I have most of the live stuff on DVD, and did they remaster the videos to look all HD on the TV (Jon & Richie circa 1986 in full HD *swoon* I'm sure Alec's goatee [and of course Alec himself] look more frightening in HD, Happy Halloween), it would be even better if the re-mastered all the VHS Videos from the 80's where they had like Slippery When Wet the videos & NJ the videos & of course Access all Areas (A Rock N Roll Odyssey) which I refuse to pay $300 for all the CDs I have just to get that DVD.

That would be the ultimate Bon Jovi DVD set (they're still not listening I'm sure).

So to recap:
You can buy the Greatest Hits DVD from an online retailer from Europe.
Bon Jovi Needs to remaster all their video collections & Access All Areas to full 1080i/p HD and put out a DVD box set
The O2 should be out on DVD w/All 70+ songs performed (in 1080i/p HD)
Alec John Such is scary even when it's not Halloween.

BTW I have determined that the actress in the video is Scottie Thompson, for those of you that watch NCIS she played Jeanne Benoit daughter of the French Arms dealer "The Frog" and girlfriend of Tony DiNozzo. She later accused him of killing her father after she ran off to Africa.

Bon Jovi: What do you got.... when you ain't got free speech

Livin' on a PrayerImage via WikipediaBon Jovi is releasing a Greatest Hits CD this November.

YEAH!

Or is that Boo because I'll spend another $20 or more (I usually buy the import discs via Amazon) for a CD with Who Says You Can't Go Home on it.

It's a full retrospective of their career, kind of like Crossroads but with the last 15 years added to it.
So yesterday was the big day and they released the first single off the Greatest Hits titled, What Do you got.  I guess this means no more additional tracks off the Circle since When We Were Beautiful wasn't really released as a single.  I really wanted Love's The Only Rule and the exceptional Brokenpromiseland but I guess not.

If you haven't heard it yet here's my take:
I was VERY hopeful that they would release a few rock tracks, some things that didn't make The Circle or things like Put the Boy Back in Cowboy off the Lost Highway CD which was by far one of the better tracks (yet was very un-Bon Jovi which is why it probably wasn't released in the US and I still don't know why some country artist hasn't recorded it).

But no, we get the very Adult Contemporary Friendly What Do You Got.  Once again just like We Weren't Born To Follow there's no guitar solo.  Once again there's Jon subtly or not so subtly politicizing (Maybe i'm a dreamer, but I still believe I believe in hope, I believe the change can get us off our knees Keep drinking the Kool Aid Jon) and quite frankly I don't like it.  It's like Jon is trying to be the working Man's Bono.  But the working man today can't afford $150 concert tickets.  The lyrics are inspirational but they've always written songs that make you believe in yourself and your abilities to over come.

Yet something is missing.  Whether it's Richie's guitar work or maybe honesty (cause honestly it's nice to preach about how nothing else matters in life as long as you have love in your life when you have a couple of million sitting in a bank account somewhere).

I almost feel like this is Livin on a Prayer 2.0 just without the two characters struggling to make it or not (you live for the fight if that's all that you got...)

Feel free to check out Glenn Osrin's article from the Examiner on the new single: New Bon Jovi single, 'What Do You Got' disappoints and then read the comments, some of them are not very nice.  I've been a fan for 25 years met a lot of great fans and tweet with many of you a regular basis and some of the comments are really awful.  It wasn't like he said he was going to go to Jon's house and hold him the band, and his family hostage at gun point until a new (and more rock orientated) album got released, he just said he was disappointed and he gave a few reasons why.  If you're going to disagree with someone at least make your statement in a mature fashion, and don't get all emotional and tell the writer that you hate them because he stated his opinion.  There are many comments that say, "I disgaree with you I like it."  Great but don't get all "OMG, I hate you I will never read your articles again, you suck, I hope you DIAF"
