What's on the Tube? The Reality TV Threshold.

In the last several years I have watched POINTLESS house of Reality TV.  There are good shows, i.e. Dog the Bounty Hunter where there is a point to the show and not just a bunch of mindless people getting drunk to see what kind of stunts and stupidity the American public will tolerate.

I never got into Survivor, since I thought they were casting towards a specific demographic and not casting a cast that would actually be interesting.

I watched every season of Rock of  Love (ROL), and was mortified that women would do this for Bret Michaels.  What I did learn from ROL is never have sex with Bret Michaels before elimination night, all the girls who slept with him, eliminated.  

I was just flipping through the channels and came across this show on the WE network.  It's called Sunset Daze, its about older Americans who have retired to Surprise, Arizona and the Sun City Center retirement communities.

The first older lady they talk to admits she's 68, and she lost her husband 3 years ago, she's looking for love and feels safe in the knowledge that she will find love again, BUT, until then she will spend her time with BOB, her Battery Operated Boyfriend.

*VOMIT*

Hearing a 68 YO woman talk about a vibrator on TV is like having a chat with my Mom about a vibrator.  Unlike other talks you have with your mother during your life, i.e. "OH MY GOD Mom, I'm bleeding..."  or "Mom, the Boys at school are calling me Cousin Tony cause the hair on my legs reminds them of the hair on their Cousin Tony's back..." this conversation should most likely be avoided, unless you have that type of relationship with your parent which good for you.


I would recommend fast forwarding in about 22 seconds, and be traumatized.

So I found my reality TV threshold is Seriors talking about sex toys, I'm sure when I get to be 68 it won't bother me as much.  Or at least I hope not.

Bon Jovi will re-release their classic studio albums as Special Editions on May 11 (N. America) and May 24 (Internationally). Each of the band’s first 10 albums-- Bon Jovi, 7800° Fahrenheit, Slippery When Wet, New Jersey, Keep The Faith, These Days, Crush, Bounce, Have A Nice Day and Lost Highway– will feature the original studio album tracks plus era-specific live recordings included as bonus tracks.


The bonus live tracks include songs taken from sound checks and concerts held in venues from all over the world, ranging from 500 seat theatres to massive football stadiums. Many of the live versions are extended, including “Get Ready” (Bon Jovi), “In and Out Of Love” (7800° Fahrenheit), “Blood on Blood” (New Jersey), “Keep The Faith” (Keep The Faith), and a duet featuring Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland performing “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” (Have A Nice Day) with the band.


This “Special Edition” collection will feature new packaging. Each CD will feature new artwork, including images from each period, and new liner notes documenting the band’s success through each stage of their twenty-five year career. Exclusive soft-pack versions will also contain reproductions of laminated tour credentials.


Additionally, each “Special Edition” will provide fans with the ability to gain “backstage access” to The Bon Jovi Vaults — a website being created to offer exclusive virtual content, including photos, tour memorabilia and additional live audio tracks.


Bon Jovi has set the bar for more than two decades as one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Globally, they have sold more than 120 million albums and performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans.


Bon Jovi is currently touring in support of their most recent release, 2009’s The Circle, which debuted at No. 1 and features the hit singles “We Weren’t Born To Follow” and “Superman Tonight.” The Circle World Tour is slated to include 135 shows in 30 countries through 2011.


The band’s previous album, 2007’s Lost Highway, also made its debut at No. 1 on the album chart. The Lost Highway Tour ranked as the top-grossing concert tour of 2008.

Ok, Math isn't my strongest subject so lets do some.

Amazon.com has the albums all 10 of them for approximately $12.99 each. That's about $130 for all ten albums. If Bon Jovi had released a CD with all the stuff they're putting on the re-releases it would be maybe 19.99 for a double disc. That's a difference of $110 or the cost of a pretty good seat to your local Bon Jovi concert.

Um, I already have all of these CD's  Is 4 songs really worth it, ok 40 songs.  But still??

Jon sings about work for the working man, but he obviously still doesn't get that the working man may not have $130 to plop down on a CD they pretty much have.

I'm not pre-ordering them, I'll hold out and wait til Amazon does 3.99 MP3 day like they did with The Circle.  39.99 is a lot more manageable than $130, cause you know those new tracks will be album only.

That Jon Bon Jovi is one smart capitalist cookie.

My Time in the circle was Saturday night.

I got there early saw the few members of the WBC squaring off against the HILARIOUS Gay rights protesters. 


Dashboard Confessional, there's a reason why they have the word "BOARD" in their name.
