Bon Jovi: Free Concert Tickets Go Fast!!!

Well. Tickets were distributed locally for folks in the Gulf Shores area. But if you are a member of Backstage with Jon Bon Jovi you could get 2 free tickets & early access!

Here's some info, watch this and ask, Is anyone going to see Brad Paisley?

Hundreds of music fans lined up outside three ticket distribution centers to score free Bon Jovi and Brad Paisley concert tickets...many of them spent the night outside the ticket booths, waiting for them to open at 8am Saturday.

In Orange Beach, several people set up shop Friday night at 8pm...making sure they were able to get tickets. Others arrived an hour before the ticket booth opened. City officials say everyone in line was able to get free tickets and report no major problems during distribution.

Foley and Gulf Shores were also designated ticket distribution centers. City officials there also report a problem-free event.

Bon Jovi will perform a free concert at the main public beach in Gulf Shores October 15th. Brad Paisley's free concert will be held two days later at the same location. The artists agreed to hold the free venues in an effort to get visitors back to Pleasure Island. Both venues are expected to draw huge crowds...something Pleasure Island hasn't seen all summer because of the oil spill in the Gulf.

Bon Jovi: A great quote from Southside Johnny on Jon

Well there's all sorts of things on Jon getting on stage late last week to perform a song with Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes.  This article talks about the performance w/SSJ.  And he has a great quote about Jon (It's very sarcastic but quite funny).

September 9th, 2010 @ 10:58 AM

Despite the “threat” of Earl on Friday, a small crowd braved the pouring rain to pack into Stephen Talkhouse to catch the annual appearance of Southside Johnny Lyon, “the best damn white blues singer on the planet,” and a very special guest…

Johnny Lyon is a 61-year-old, blue-eyed soul, whiskey-and-gin-soaked singer who never quite made it out of Bruce Springsteen’s shadow to become a commercial success. But don’t let that status fool you, he’s a grizzled New Jersey rocker with a cult following who puts on one of the best live shows imaginable.

“Oh Guest of a Guest? That’s for Mercedes people. I drive a Toyota Rav-4,” Lyon said after the show. He continued:
“But why do I keep coming back to Talkhouse? Because they pay us. And also, it’s a great gig. The only bad thing about Stephen Talkhouse is the getting out here and getting around. Now tomorrow, we’re supposed to catch the ferry from Orient Point to go and play in Massachusetts. And for the last five days we’ve been worried about whether it’s going to run or not because of the hurricane. It’s the logistics of the thing. Out here, you’re way out in the middle of nowhere. It’s a great nowhere, but we have to move around, so it’s not that easy to get from here to anywhere or from anywhere to here.”

But he consistently makes the trek, meeting up with close friend Jon Bon Jovi, who he often stays with after performances.

“Jon Bon Jovi has a house out here and usually I spend a night with him, and that’s usually fun because his kids are great. He sucks, but his kids are great,” Lyon said of his decades-old friend. Bon Jovi got into the business because of Lyon, once saying, “I’ve always wanted to be a Juke…and I still do.”

Backed by his band, the Asbury Jukes, an ever-rotating lineup that has included E Streeter Steve Van Zandt, Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa and trombonist Richie “La Bamba” Rosenberg, who played in Conan O’Brien’s band, Lyon put on a bare bones, high-energy show, playing his earlier hits, a Stones song and a few Beatles ditties.

In his not-such-a-surprise guest appearance, Bon Jovi – who has also acknowledged Lyon as his “reason for singing,” – jumped on stage to duet on “Talk to Me,” a Springsteen-penned blues song about a cold woman, and returned to the stage later to deliver him a drink from the bar.

“Your shoelaces are untied,” Lyon said to Bon Jovi in the middle of the song, pretending to kick him when he looked down. “Where’d you get that shirt, prison?” Bon Jovi retorted.

In reality, Lyon, who is often referred to as the “Grandfather of the New Jersey sound,” never quite achieved the success garnered by Bon Jovi or Springsteen, even though the three Jersey icons collaborate often and have traded backing artists with one another through the years.

Which is not to say Lyon never made his mark. The congenial, acerbically-witted rocker – who resembles an angular, floppy-haired Baldwin brother – has put out more than thirty albums and still sells out shows today, performing annual concerts in Asbury Park, at New York’s B.B. Kings and at venues across Europe. He’s had missteps – the disco-fabulous, unabashedly ‘80s album “Trash it Up” was made during a dark time, he’s said, that included feelings of detachment and too much alcohol – but his catalogue still holds up, and his albums are highly rated on Amazon.

Now, 40 years, 400 songs, thousands of shows and two ex-wives later, Lyon records on his own label, Leroy Records, which he founded in 2001. But in the face of the commercial structure of the music industry, it all comes down to playing what he loves,
Lyon said:
“After 40 years on the road, you don’t learn any other trade. Because anything else you would do would be just killing time. Working in a factory or post office or something. So you don’t have to do that. All you have to do is drive to Amagansett and drive back and eat baloney on a roll for 14 days in a row, but you get onstage and have a great time and a great audience and it makes it all worthwhile. Tonight was great fun. So we get paid to have a great time. Not a lot, but we get paid enough to keep going.”

Bon Jovi: Bon Jovi rocks for the cops in New York

It's the Tuesday after Labor Day, many of us had a long three day weekend here in The states, but some kids have to go back to school.

JBJ he still may be nursing the mother of all hang overs.

At his East Hampton home in New York on Saturday night, Bon Jovi invited 60 of his closest friends, including Jack Nicholson, for his annual end-of-summer bash including a live performance and fireworks.

When the show kept raging after the local 11.00pm sound curfew, police rolled up to shut down the stage, but the diplomatic rocker invited the officers in just to squeak out one last song, the New York Post reported.

News of the rocking party follows reports the 64th birthday bash of former US President Bill Clinton at a rented Hamptons mansion ended in drama after a valuable vase was broken and a neighbor complained about parking.

The party was thrown by wife Hillary and Clinton's longtime aide Doug Band.

Here's another article on the same story:

Jon Bon Jovi invited police into his home for a private concert.

The rock star is best known as the lead singer and namesake of chart-topping US band Bon Jovi, and is famed for his love of the party lifestyle.

Jon had invited around 60 good friends, including famous faces such as the actor Jack Nicholson, to a party at his home in East Hampton, New York, at the weekend.

The rocker and his friends are believed to have been enjoying themselves so much the local police turned up to tell Jon he had surpassed the 11pm sound curfew that East Hampton residents must abide by.

Rather than put an end to his wild antics, Jon decided to invite the police officers to join the party instead, and ended up performing a Bon Jovi hit for them, the New York Post reports.

It is not known which song Jon sang for the police, although he has an extensive back catalogue with his band, whose hits include Livin’ on a Prayer and Always. After the quick performance, the officers are believed to have left the bash.

The rock star hosts this end-of-summer party annually, which usually involves live music and firework displays.

I would bet money that it was Who Says You Can't Go Home.

This is the party that hosts the super dooper group (beyond super group) of JBJ, the Boss, The Piano Man, and Sir Paul.

Hmm maybe Jon could learn a little from a possible party attendant:

IT'S CURFEW BREAKING BOSS TIME.

Bon Jovi: Twenty Years Ago.... this week Shot down in a Blaze of Glory...

Do you believe it??? Twenty years ago in the US this was the #1 song:

I wonder if Jon still has those pants, he also wore those pants (or a close facsimile thereof) in the I'll Be There For You Video. He wore those pants a lot and that loose shirt with the blue and white that he wore in the I'll Be There For You video as well.

The blue shirt in question can also be seen in this photo from 1988.
Here is a black & white of the blue shirt and those same brown pants together.

But I have digressed:  the true motivation behind this post is to talk about Blaze of Glory.
Blaze of Glory was nominated/won the following awards:
And a quote from Jack Bauer aka Keifer Sutherland:
"When Jon (Bon Jovi) joined the team for Young Guns 2, we were all eating hamburgers in a diner and Jon was scribbling on this napkin for, say, six minutes. He declared he'd written 'Blaze of Glory', which of course then went through the roof in the States. He later gave Emilio Estevez the napkin. We were munching burgers while he wrote a No. 1 song... Made us feel stupid."

He wrote it in 6 minutes.  Geez!  I wonder how long it took him to write Who Says You can't Go Home?  30 seconds???

Jon - "Richie, I have this lyric in my head...  'It's Alright!'  We need to write a song about this and make it kind of country sounding...."

The video from the Oscars, one of the best performances of the song ever.  Thankfully Jon changed out of his GOD AWFUL crushed velvet purple suit.

I want someone to go to some HRH Q&A session and just ask him what motivated him to wear a suit that made him look like Grape Ape with hair??

So listen to Blaze of Glory right now!!

Bon Jovi: A FAN GETS A LITTLE TOO ‘CHEEKY’ WITH JON BON JOVI

I can't bring the sound byte over but read the story and click the link.
If the sound byte doesn't work here's what happens (highlight the text below with your mouse to read it):
Jon was introduced to a woman on the set of his first movie (not mentioned if this was YG2 or M&V) and she drops her pants and shows him on her ass she has a greatly detailed image of his face and the reason for this is she gets to sit on his face nightly.
This reminds me of a Monty Python song.

The band Bon Jovi has been together for over 27 years. For those 27 years, they have had very devoted fans who follow the band when they are touring, and immediately buy their albums when they are released. But then there are some unique fans who really go to the extreme to express their devotion to the band.
When Fox All Access host Chris Leary caught up with Jon Bon Jovi, he described the craziest thing that a fan has ever done for him. (Click on the audio player to hear Jon Bon Jovi
