Bon Jovi: Jon "Bullying is Unacceptable"

Going to put a link up here since it's all adobe on the Fox All Access.

Jon talks about bullying, interesting listen.

Thanks to a series of unfortunate (and sometimes tragic) headlines, bullying has become one of society’s hottest issues. The rally cries against bullying have come from Facebook groups, human rights organizations, and TV talk shows alike. If you watched last night’s episode of “Glee,” you know it took a powerful anti-bullying stance.

One of the more shocking instances of bullying recently took place in New Jersey, so when we talked to one of the state’s most famous residents, Jon Bon Jovi, we asked him about the bullying issue, how he’s been personally affected by bullying, and how he feels about the recent incidents.

Bon Jovi: Cup of Noodles anyone?

Ugh, I despise Cup of Noodles, it's like eating salt with noodles. And the noodles never taste like they fully cooked and are still stale in the Styrofoam cup. YUCK!

Anyway, in the commercial below Jon doesn't actually sing, but they use video from Live From London.

I hope they got permission!

Bon Jovi are the latest mega band to sing in Japanese about their midnight cravings
By Robert Michael Poole 12 November, 2010

Bon Jovi -- rockers, actors, but Japanese speakers? Yes, if you watch new footage of their 1995 gig in Wembley Stadium, which appears to show the group singing parts of their hit "You Give Love A Bad Name" in Japanese.

In fact, the band are the latest act recruited to sing about Nissin's Cup Noodles, theirs being a teenage tale.

Followling MISIA’s “Everything,” British funk band Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity” and power pop group GLAY’s “HOWEVER,” Bon Jovi sang new lyrics in honor of the ever-popular noodle. The lyrics are as follows;

"The son is a high school third grader

He was studying for his exams

His cup noodle midnight snack

His mom had forgotten

The son ... sulked"

Fifteen and 30-second versions of the clips are now airing. Nissin has made a reputation for bringing in foreign stars for their advertisements, famously utilizing Arnold Schwarzenegger for several ad campaigns.

Bon Jovi: Review of lasts nights show and where Richie & Tico went after

Wait, Andrea you & Ed were not invited to this after show soiree at the Waverly Inn? And Maria & Lucy you guys didn't get invites?  I'm shocked and appalled.  More appalled than shocked though.

And Dear Roger Friedman,
It's Not Wanted Dead or Alive (I'm a Cowboy), it's just Wanted, Dead or Alive.  Be sure to note this for the future and make changes accordingly.
Oh and if you've heard Who Says You Can't Go Home too many times to count, you wouldn't say its good to hear it.
It's Not Alright.
Thanks,
Me.

Bon Jovi–the whole group–lit up Times Square last night with a ebullient, athletic 90 minute live show from the Best Buy (formerly Nokia) Theater on Broadway and West 44th St.

This is a smallish venue converted from a movie theater–the beloved Loew’s 44th St where I saw all the “Star Wars” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark” movies. And Bon Jovi is a kick ass bigger-than-life band, launching their first greatest hits record in 27 years with the show simulcast on YouTube and local WPLJ radio.

You haven’t heard anything until a thousand people are screaming the words to “Living on a Prayer” and “It’s My Life” in your ear. Bon Jovi started out as a bar band and on some level they remain the Greatest Bar Band ever. Not only did they perform more than a dozen of their own hits, they mixed in “Pretty Woman” and “Shout” with the punch and drive of 20 year olds.

It was great to hear “Wanted Dead or Alive (I’m a Cowboy),” “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” and “Keep the Faith” in this intimate setting. You could tell Jon, Richie, Dave and Tico were having fun, too. They had plenty of friends and family in the audience as well, including Richie’s mom, aunt and a family friend affectionately known as Eddie the Hat.

After the show, Jon Bon Jovi and Dave Bryan headed right home. But Richie Sambora and Tico Torres headed downtown to the Waverly Inn. They took up a table for about 12 people including Little Steven van Zandt. wife Maureen van Zandt, music publisher John Titta, and “American Idol” past winner David Cook.

Bon Jovi: Richie's Strings

Did you know that Richie uses D'Addario strings?

Nope.

Well now you do.  Here's a little blurb about Richie on their site, nothing new but I thought I would post it.

“Whether I am in the studio or on the stadium stage,
these are the strings that connect me to my
audience and my guitar to me."
Richie Sambora is one of music's most talented and respected songwriters, singers, guitarists and producers. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, he has toured the world and collected over 68 gold and platinum albums. In 1998, Sambora released his second solo album, Undiscovered Soul, produced by Don Was featuring contributions by Chuck Leavell of The Rolling Stones, Rami Jaffee of The Wallflowers and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.
Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and raised in Woodbridge, Sambora got his first guitar in 1971 when he was 13, and started playing in bands only three years later. A diversified music listener, Sambora comes from a background of The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Led Zeppelin and the blues, and had the opportunity to explore all of his musical avenues while making his first solo album, Stranger In This Town. A single from the album, Mr. Bluesman, was inspired by Clapton who even agreed to play lead guitar on the track, fulfilling a lifetime dream of Sambora's. Sambora is a self-taught musician and plays numerous instruments such as guitar, piano, bass, drums, trumpet, saxophone and accordion.
In his career with Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora has co-written music that resulted in sales of over 120 million albums worldwide, of which more than 34 platinum titles were sold in the U.S. alone. He has performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. The Lost Highway World Tour ranked as 2008’s #1 top-selling tour. Bon Jovi are currently on a 30-country, 135-show tour in support of their latest release, The Circle.
Today, Sambora and the rest of Bon Jovi continue to have an enormous influence on innumerable young bands seeking to follow in their footsteps. Bon Jovi have always been steadfast in following their own instincts, ignoring obvious trends and providing a model for other bands and musicians just starting out on their careers.

Bon Jovi: British Lawsuit settled

I'd want more than $53000 to publicly admit that Bon Jovi ruined my sex life. The first woman to ever say this.

By Lucy Thornton 11/11/2010

A mother who was run over by a Bon Jovi roadie has been awarded £33,000 compensation after she claimed it ruined her sex life.

But after paying off legal fees and returning disability benefits security guard Sally Allen, 39, will end up with just £3,000.

She claimed she has been unable to work or walk properly since the rock band worker drove over her in a gold buggy.

She was left with a broken leg, crushed foot and dislocated toe.

Sally, from Pontefract, West Yorks, says her injuries also left her unable to make love.

In the aftermath of the incident in June 2006 she had depression, almost lost her house and her husband left her. But after four years of constant wrangling with the band's solicitors, the mum-ofone decided to settle the case. She said: "I have gone through hell since the accident and my marriage has broken down.

"I'd no idea it would drag on this long. Now I have decided to draw a line under it and get on with my life. I can't cope with it anymore."

Sally, who was originally claiming £250,000, admitted the £33,000 was a big let-down.

She said: "I finished up getting only about £3,000 after I paid back what I'd got in disability benefits and what I owed the solicitor. It's hard because I've lost more money than that through not working for four years."

The US roadie at the gig, in the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, allegedly drove over Sally's right leg as she tried to evacuate a VIP area when a fire broke out.

She says he told her: "Do you know who I am? Get out of my way, you f***ing whore".

And before running over her in the buggy he yelled: "Last chance, bitch."

A spokesperson for Bon Jovi said the band was unaware of the incident and that the roadie no longer works for them.

Bon Jovi: You got $50K?

If I had a Million Dollars (If I had a million dollars), sorry Bare Naked Ladies moment (I'm not a one trick pony, I do listen to other things besides Bon Jovi, on occasion).

But If I had a million dollars (If I had a million dollars), I'd buy a table at this event for my friends (OK, maybe 2 since I know so many of yous).

Oh and the bottom sentence tells you why this is happening.

I like this event better than that event last year with the Houston Law Firm, which still makes me believe that one day, If I win the PowerBall for $220 Million (I'll take the lump sum of approximately 135 Million thank you) I will have a private Bon Jovi concert, and the rider will state NO WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME and possibly Runaway because this ain't back to the future, we don't have no flux capacitor ain't gonna be no time travel today!  But definely no Who Says, I'll throw in an extra million if they play Edge of a Broken Heart.

Rock megagroup Bon Jovi will play an unusually intimate benefit show at the Colorado Convention Center on Jan. 21 for the University of Colorado Hospital's 5-year-old Center for Dependency, Addiction and Rehabilitation (CEDAR).

The concert and dinner will be in the Korbel Ballroom, with seating for 11,000 people at 110 tables. Tables cost $2,500 to $50,000, and 20 are sold out.

"Getting this band is amazing because they're coming out for a one-off show, and they sold out the Pepsi Center the last two times they came through," said AEG Live Rocky Mountain Region president Chuck Morris, the show's producer.

CEDAR is on the Anschutz Medical Campus, and Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz owns AEG Live, which books and promotes Bon Jovi worldwide.

Bon Jovi: Bon Jovi 1988 Interview Reveals ‘New Jersey’ Details, Including Original Title and Cover Art

This interview has some audio links which are pretty cool, I'll post them at the end.

Staff

Back in the fall of 1988, if Bon Jovi wasn’t the biggest rock and roll band in the world, they were right there at the top. The Jersey-born bandmates had just finished a long tour promoting their gigantically popular Slippery When Wet (it spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and was 1987′s best-selling album), and they were also set to release their also-soon-to-be-megaplatinum New Jersey.

Jon Bon Jovi stopped by New York City station WNEW in 1988 for an informal chat–taking calls (and faxes) from fans, answering questions about his recent stadium tour, and discussing the band’s new album, New Jersey.

While it seemed like it had been a long time between records, the band actually jumped right into recording after they came off the Slippery When Wet tour.

It turns out that New Jersey wasn’t the band’s first choice for the album’s title.

Tommy and Gina, the two fictional characters from Bon Jovi’s signature song “Livin’ on a Prayer,” are brought back in a follow-up song on New Jersey, because, as Jon says, he wanted the story to have an ending–”and I wanted it to be a happy ending.”

On Tuesday, Nov. 9, Bon Jovi performs a Live on Letterman concert webcast direct from the Ed Sullivan Theatre, and you can watch it live on CBS.com. The show starts at 8pm Eastern (5pm Pacific).

Bon Jovi: EMA performance

Had to repost as Viacom had the original video taken down.

Jon's voice is a little off at the beginning IMO.

My voice would be off if I lost to Linkin Park.

Bon Jovi: This is Jon's Fake Smile *CAPTION CONTEST*

Best Caption wins something, I'll figure it out later.
Mine:
"Shit, this promotional tour is too damned long, I lost track of the days I thought Halloween was last week."
"Damn, I hope this isn't Richie's new girlfriend, at least Denise didn't look like Marilyn Manson's favorite hooker."

Bon Jovi: Rihanna's Bon Jovial Night

I'm not posting the video because I don't want to offend.  And she took Richie's Hat, Listen Ri-Ri you don't touch the hat, or you get a Mike Tyson beat down vs a Chris Brown beat down. Oh and you know he's not laughing with her, he's laughing AT HER.

MOST folk rely on Guitar Hero to fulfil their rock star fantasies.
RIHANNA, on the other hand, has turned to the real thing to carry out hers.

Dressed in a vampy red frock, the pop star hopped onstage at BON JOVI'S gig in Spain last night.

Red hot ... Rihanna answers JBJ's Prayer
Getty

Rather than sing some soppy ballad with leader JON, Rihanna lent her vocals to the band's ultimate air guitar anthem - Livin' On A Prayer.

And the versatile singer didn't take long to settle in to her rock role, nailing the traditional hand gesture of the distortion-happy and sticking her tongue out.

Leather-vested frontman Jon couldn't get enough of the collaboration, laughing uproariously at Rihanna's antics.

Red-headed Rihanna is in Madrid ahead of tonight's MTV EMAs, where she's up for five awards.

One award Jon Bon Jovi will never win is Best Dressed Male.

Bon Jovi: Bon Jovi tells how his wife and kids saved him when the crazy lifestyle got too much

Nov 7 2010 Billy Sloan, Sunday Mail

ROCKER Jon Bon Jovi slumps on his stool, stifles a yawn and pretends to fall asleep. I know how he is feeling.

We're in a BBC Radio 2 studio in London where US rock supergroup Bon Jovi are playing live on the Drivetime Show with DJ Simon Mayo.

They've agreed to perform - in front of just 100 diehard fans - to raise £20,000 for Children In Need. But events have taken a near Spinal Tap-style turn.

As the band wait patiently to play classic hits You Give Love A Bad Name, It's My Life and Wanted (Dead Or Alive) at 15-minute intervals they have to endure endless "wacky" radio items such as a board game expert droning on about the history of Cluedo and Monopoly, a Confession Spot featuring a listener who planted fake toilet paper in loos and Sprightly Pensioner of the Day.

"Let's talk about board games. I'm BORED," quips Jon to laughter from the audience. Luckily, it's all lighthearted banter as Bon Jovi fill in the gaps playing impromptu versions of Lost Highway, Bed Of Roses and a show-stopping cover of Conway Twitty's It's Only Make Believe.

Job done, I'm invited back to the plush Savoy Hotel to interview the 48- year-old singer. That's when I get a taste of his superstar lifestyle. Jon insists I travel in his vehicle. Flanked by minders we race past paparazzi and fans and speed off. At the Savoy, security is tight because Prince Charles is attending a function. We're spirited in via a service entrance and settle in the cocktail bar for a chat.

Jon is engaging company and there's lots to talk about. Bon Jovi have released Greatest Hits, a double CD which includes all their classics and new single What Do You Got? They're playing Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on June 22, 2011, their biggest ever show in Scotland.

While the singer prefers to always look forward, getting nostalgic about a career which has seen the Grammy-winning band sell 120million records, chalk up five UK No.1 albums including Keep The Faith and play to 34million fans, it does throw up some bittersweet memories.

"The goal at this time in my life is to maintain what we've achieved with silent grace and not burn out. I want to be a contributor to pop culture. But I need to ensure Bon Jovi are progressing and moving forward," said Jon.

Bon Jovi have been nominated for the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Tom Waits and Donovan. Such an accolade would have been unthinkable for the teenage Jon whose ambition didn't stretch further than landing a recording deal.

"That was the highest rung on my ladder. I thought if I signed one I could still live at home with my mum," recalled Jon, laughing.

But in 1986, life changed forever as album Slippery When Wet hit No.1 and produced landmark singles You Give Love A Bad Name and Livin' On A Prayer.

Jon said: "We were playing a Holiday Inn in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, opening for The 38 Special, when our manager flew in to tell his boys, You're No.1.'

"We lost our f****** minds with excitement. The 38 Special said, 'How do you feel about a co-headline tour?' We said, 'Sorry, we're outta here' and scammed promoters to pay for a private jet to get us from gig to gig. It was like a cartoon where our tour bus was travelling to the next town as we flew overhead.

"We said, 'Take your tour bus and shove it'. I've never got back on another one again 25 years later."

But Jon admits he nearly paid the ultimate price for his phenomenal success. He said: "I remember the burnout. It was terrible. I went from being a 25-year-old kid in a rock band to head of a corporation. Suddenly, I was the boss employing a lot of people and had to make decisions which affected lives. I wasn't prepared for that. I don't blame the managers around us then.

"In retrospect, if I'd had a kid band like Bon Jovi I'd have said, 'Okay boys, go home. Have confidence. It will keep happening, don't worry'. I'd never have made them do a 240-date tour and every TV interview. I'm older and wiser now."

Jon credits his wife of 21 years Dorothea for pulling him through. They met at high school and live in New York with their children Stephanie Rose, 17, Jesse James, 15, Jacob, eight, and Romeo, six.

Jon revealed: "I crashed physically and mentally. My wife said, 'You gotta stop'. I was driving on the Pacific Coast highway on my way to see a shrink. I felt like jumping out of the moving car and I'd have been killed. I'm NOT exaggerating.

"I got to the shrink's office 45 minutes late for an hour-long appointment. Much as I wanted to cry on the guy's shoulder I didn't have enough time left in my consultation. So I became Jon Bon Jovi from New Jersey again. I said, 'Do you know what. Go f*** yourself. I don't need you to fix me up. I'll figure it out'.

"God blessed me. I had a wife who loved me and a family to go home to. As tired and burnt-out as I was, I'm no quitter. There was no way I was gonna die. I'm still here. My health and my family are the core of my being. Without my wife and kids I'd be a dead man. It's a beautiful privilege to still be doing what I'm doing. A dream come true."

Long may it continue but Jon is already thinking ahead. He said: "You're never going to see the fat Elvis in me. People I admired like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and John Belushi all died at 27. I've got jeans older than that.

"Between the ages of 42 and 48 has given me some of my greatest memories yet. When I look at my peers Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page, Bruce Springsteen, Bono - they're all over 50 and still doing great. That's because they don't live the bulls*** or cliched rock star life. They survive on a great catalogue and new material. That's the team I want to play for.

"The Rolling Stones set the bar to where I look to as a band. But I don't envision myself touring in the way they do. My knees won't hold out. I'm reading Keith Richards' book for some motivation. Will I be singing Livin' On A Prayer at 68? I don't know. For now, I'm very comfortable being 48. There's a vintage which comes with age and experience."
